Living as a Christian

What is a Christian? The contemporary scene is flooded with all kinds of ideas of what it means, most taken from the culture around us. In Living as a Christian, a never-before published collection of teachings on 1 Peter, A.W. Tozer examines what being a Christian, and to live out that role in one’s daily life, really means.

Living as a Christian, adapted from sermons given to Dr. Tozer’s parishioners, develops the theme of salvation as God’s master plan for mankind. In Dr. Tozer’s view, to be a recipient of God’s salvation is to be able to withstand anything and everything that seeks to undermine our faith. The epistle of 1 Peter was written to a group of just such Christians, to encourage them to live in the center of God’s redeeming love, in spite of persecution and hardship. The differences between believers and non-believers are examined, as are our relation to government and authority, standing firm against false teaching and much more.

Each of us, as Christians, has a specific destiny to fulfill. Discovering that destiny and fulfilling it in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit is the joy of our daily walk with Christ…and A.W. Tozer points the way.

Good book but to much information
March 22, 2010

The book in overall was a good read but it gave to much information. This was my first book that I read from this author so he was direct at some points. If you are a new Christian I would wait to read this book but if you have any questions it would be a good source to start off. Don't get discourage if you don't understand everything what the author is saying its a learning process in what is a christian.

I enjoyed this book simply because it's Tozer. However, it doesn't compare with The Pursuit of God, which, of course, is his masterpiece. I felt it was a little tame, but good nonetheless. Sometimes this happens when someone compiles the works of another author posthumously.
