Fasting

Is our body an enemy or can it play a part in our pursuit of God? In Fasting, Dr. Scot McKnight reconnects the spiritual and the physical through the discipline of fasting.

The act of fasting should not be focused on results or used as a manipulative tool. It’s a practice to be used in response to sacred moments of spiritual growth, strengthening our connection to our Creator, just as it was in the lives of God’s people throughout history. Scot gives us scriptural accounts of fasting, along with practical wisdom on the benefits and pitfalls, when we should fast and what happens to our bodies as a result.

If you’ve ever wondered about the value of this most misunderstood ancient practice, this book is a resource and guide.

This book guides the reader through objectives of fasting and how it can benefit a person personally and spiritually. I really appreciated the deep foundations this book presents from the Holy Bible and the relevance to spiritual growth. This book presents several approaches to fasting and how to use fasting to improve our minds and bodies in service to God. This is a religious presentation of fasting and how it can serve the reader to connect with their spiritual growth and serving God.
