It’s time for bed and Baby Llama realizes that he is thirsty after Mama Llama has already kissed him goodnight, turned out the light and gone downstairs. He calls for Mama and she says she’ll be right up, but when she doesn’t come back immediately he starts to worry. Where’s Mama? Soon, his soft whimpers turn to hollers. Boy is he scared—talk about llama drama!
Anna Dewdney’s warm and fuzzy rhyming read-aloud is easy to relate to, especially if you have a child who beckons long after they’re already tucked in for the night. Along with artwork that’s impossible to resist, Llama Llama Red Pajama reassures little ones that their parents will always be near, even when they’re not right here. Nighty night! (Ages 2-4)

As a two and a half year old he relates to baby lama not going to sleep so easy when all he wants is his mama. The rhyme of the lines bring a melody to the reading that is comforting and soothing to the woes of bedtime. Not too long to boring and not too short to be forgettable.

My daughter found this book when we were out one day and fell in love with it. I purchased it for her birthday and we read it all the time. She loves how it rhymes and picks up tempo as baby llama gets upset with mama. Now, she imitates the book to get me back into her room at bedtime.
