Ann H. Gabhart’s Angel Sister reveals the power of true love, the freedom of forgiveness and the strength to persevere through troubled times—all against the backdrop of a sultry Kentucky summer.
It’s 1936 in the midst of the disasterous Great Depression and Kate Merritt, the middle child of Victor and Nadine, works hard to keep her family together. Her father is falling deeper into the clutches of alcoholism and his business is all but gone. Her mother tries to come to grips with their situation while her sisters remain blissfully oblivious so it’s Kate who must shoulder the emotional load.
Then Lorena Birdsong, a dirty, abandoned little girl comes into their lives. Could she be the miracle the Merritts so desperately need?

I did not like this book. The story was ok. The length was way to long. I usually enjoy longer than average books. This one, however, left me bored and counting pages until I was finished.

I could hardly put this book down. It's about a family in the era of the depression. A great book to read and think about long after. I really enjoyed it.
