Chris Fabry’s Almost Heaven is an engrossing tale reminding us that God uses our “daily grind” in ways we may not realize.
Billy Allman is an Appalachian genius who longs to use his life as an ode to God—a beautiful bluegrass song played with a finely tuned heart. With spare parts, he builds a radio station in his home. People laugh, but they don’t know that Billy carries a brutal secret that keeps him from his calling. However small his life seems, from a different perspective Billy’s song reaches far beyond the hills he calls home.
Malachi is an angel sent to observe Billy, and sees the bigger picture of how each painful step Billy takes is a note added to a symphony that will forever change the lives of those who hear it.

I really enjoyed the way the story flowed. I had read June Bug and enjoyed it so I had to read the next one and did not regret the purchase at all.

I have read many fiction novels this year, but this one stood out. The way the angel looks at the human and keeps wondering, "What's so great about this kid?"
reflects the beauty of how God sees things in each person that even the angels can't discern. I usually prefer straight-up suspense, but this was a memorable and moving story with a worth that goes beyond just entertainment.
