The Amish Midwife by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould is a compelling tale about a woman’s search for identity and the ability to trust that God holds our life—past, present and future—in His loving hands.
A dusty, carved box containing two locks of hair and a century-old letter—coupled with a burning desire to learn about her biological family—lead midwife Lexie Jaeger to Pennsylvania Amish country. There, she meets Marta Bayer, a midwife who desperately needs help after an Amish client and her baby die.
When Lexie assumes Marta’s patient load as she continues to search for her birth family, she learns the true meaning of the Pennsylvania Dutch word demut (to let be) and begins to “let go and let God” at last.

This is my second Amish fiction book and my second Mindy Starns Clark book. Oh my gosh, I did not want to put it down. This was a real page turner full of lots of secrets that connected people I never expected. The twists and plots in this novel leave you saying "wow!" I will definitely read more by Starns Clark and give other Amish fiction authors a try.

ALL of this author books are full of emotion, mystery, intrigue, love, she holds the readers attention all the way through her books, that you have to discipline yourself to read only so much each day, or one would just read the entire book in one day; then you have nothing to look forward too, lol. Amish one Feb 2011 is her latest. My elderly neighbor, now home iwth the Lord, read all my books I had in a week, could not put them down!.
