Abraham Lincoln has had more books written about him than all our nation’s presidents put together, but little has been written about his spirituality and his religious views.
Gleaned from over 10 years of study, historian Joe Wheeler has written an insightful and immensely readable book on Lincoln’s attitudes toward religion, God and faith. Skillfully weaving his own narrative with quotes from Lincoln and poignant excerpts from other Lincoln biographers, Wheeler brings a refreshingly friendly rendition of Lincoln’s life and faith.
With photographs and rare etchings, this unique volume offers a fascinating view of Lincoln’s spirituality and shows how he may have been one of the most faith-filled presidents our nation has known.

I can't recall NOT being intrigued by Abraham Lincoln, yet, what I knew of him prior to finding this book was the public persona and political side. Yes, his faith is mentioned in most every literary account of this great man, but this book takes the reader as far into Mr. Lincoln's heart and soul as he can go, without actually knowing the man personally. Within these pages, feel the pain of a loving husband and father, as well as the burdens of a great leader. Find comfort in his unfailing faith and personal relationship with Almighty God....A true journey of courage and faith...a legacy left to inspire us all. Thank you, Mr. President.

As with most American children I learned alot about Lincoln throughout my school years. But, we did not learn intimate details, mainly generalities about his political and family life . This book shows a more intimate view of a troubled, but great man. His life was never easy, but he is an example of how to overcome life's obstacles and become the person God made you to be. I really liked this book, and am reading the chapters to my 7 year old grandson at bedtime. He idolizes Lincoln, and this allows him to get a clearer picture of who he really was and what it is to become a man of faith and principles. I would most definitely recommend this book.
