The Emancipation of Robert Sadler: The Powerful True Story of a Twentieth-Century Plantation Slave

Marie Chapian’s The Emancipation of Robert Sadler is a real-life tale that will both shock and inspire you.

This updated edition of a classic is the amazing account of God’s rescue of Robert Sadler (1911-1986). Over 50 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Robert was sold into slavery at the age of 5—by his own father. He escaped at 14, and eventually emerged in triumph into a life dedicated to God. This is a no-holds-barred tale of Robert’s quest for freedom, his determination to serve others by sharing the gospel and ministering to those in need at every opportunity.

The Emancipation of Robert Sadler is a story of good triumphing over evil by the power of God’s grace, and of an extraordinary life in ministry

A must read...

I expected to hate this book because of the subject matter. However, what I found was a very well-written account of Mr. Sadler's life. His life is a real testimony to the wonders of God. Instead of letting him past define him and determine his future, he called on God. Very inspirational.

wonderful story, i don't usually read biographies but this was written well and it really touched my heart that he turned to the lord instead of being bitter. needs to be read by everybody, this happened in the 1900 hundreds, not before the civil war.

Everyone should read this book...

This is sometimes a difficult book to read as far as the subject matter is concerned. The beginning of the story is raw and very very honest. In fact, the whole story is honest, open and strightforward which is so refreshing. Its a real page turner and easy to read, as I read it in about 3 days and appreciated how well written it is. Historically, it is an eye opener that every American should read!! I have been inspired in my own walk with God after having read this wonderful book!
